IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION
In the Court of Claims.
OF DAVID H. HIXON
TO BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE FUNDS
OF THE CHEROKEE NATION
AFFIDAVIT OF JOHN H. DOYAL
STATE OF GEORGIA,
WALKER COUNTY.
John H. Doyal, of Saint Elmo, Hamilton county, Ten-
nessee, being first sworn, upon his oath deposes and says:
I am 78 years on age, and was born in Walton county, Georgia.
I came to Walker county, Georgia, at the age of twelve years; I removed
across the line into Hamilton county, Tennessee, in 1876.
I know the applicant, David H. Hixon, and live about three
miles from him. I know his father George Hixon, and knew his grand-
father, Dave Hixon, and all his brothers, they being the sons of Tim
Hixon, the Cherokee arrow maker. I knew Tim Hixon by general rep-
tation as an arrow maker of the Cherokee tribe, and of their blood.
I have known this Hixon family in Walker county for three
or four generations, and know that it has always been generally un-
derstood by those best acquainted with them that they are of the
Cherokee Indian blood.
