I was present- and eye witness-at the marriage of David Hixon and Louisa Miller. It transpired at my father's house in Walker County Ga. My father was a justice of the peace at the time and he performed the rite. I remember it distinctly- they both rode to my father's on the same horse. She rode behind him. She was a full-grown woman and he was a boy of 16 years of age. They were neighbors of ours and neither of them had been married prior to their marriage to each other-and I do not believe there is another person living at this date who saw the marriage and I would have missed it if they had not asked me if my father was a home, and I turned back for I had started out to gather fruit- I was only 14 years of age at the time-having been born in 1825 and they were married in 1839. My father and mother and all the others as well as I now remember are all dead. And I have forgotten the names of the persons who accompanied them see them married, although I knew all of them at the time. They had by said marriage 8 or 9 children. The forgoing was written by Tho. Gass {?}
