You are correct--my great grandfather (James Hixon) was the son of David
and Louisa (Miller) Hixon and brother to your gggrandmother Francis
Elizabeth Hixon Ellis. There is the most wonderful picture of "Bessie" and
her husband in the book "Walker County Georgia Heritage 1833-1983". I'm
sure you've seen it but I think its such a great photo. I'd love to know
the name of David Hixon's father. Do you have any info on him? I have the
Millers as being James Miller whose wife's name was Fennby. I got most of
my information from the book "Notable Southern Families: Hixson-Hixon of
Tennessee" compiled by James E. Hixson and Zella Armstrong. They have a
copy of this book at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library.
According to this book, the family ". . . by tradition came from Virginia to
Tennessee and soon after the Indians were taken west in 1835, settled in
Chattanooga Valley in Walker County, GA".
